☀️ Alicante in 3 Days - Road Trip, Chocolate & Fantastic Food Experiences!
Published: 19.04.2026
Join us for a rich 3-day trip to Alicante filled with a road trip, chocolate, and fantastic food experiences. We travel from Sandefjord Airport Torp and explore both the city and its surroundings. This is the trip for those who want to experience as much as possible in a short time.

Alicante is one of those destinations that truly surprises, especially if you give yourself a bit more than just beach and sun. On this trip, we flew from Sandefjord Airport Torp with Ryanair to Alicante and spent three days exploring both the city, the surrounding mountains, and not least the food the area has to offer.
This is a perfect type of trip for those who want to experience a lot in a short time.
An easy and affordable journey from Torp
One of the biggest advantages of Alicante is how easy it is to get there. With direct flights from Torp via Ryanair, the journey takes just a few hours, and prices are often very good if you book a little in advance.
The airport in Alicante is only about 15 minutes from the city center. This makes it incredibly easy to quickly get started with your vacation. Whether you choose taxi, bus, or rental car, everything is well organized.
We chose a rental car on the first day, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of the entire trip.
Road trip to the mountains around Alicante
Although many associate Alicante with beach life, it is the area around the city that truly impresses. On the very first day, we got in the car and drove up into the mountains, and it is highly recommended.
Here you get spectacular views, charming small villages, and a more tranquil atmosphere than in the city. There is something special about getting a bit away from the tourist areas and experiencing the more authentic Spain. The roads are good, and the drive itself is an experience.
A sweet highlight: Valor Chocolate Museum 🍫
One of the most unique experiences on the trip was the visit to the Museo del Chocolate Valor.
This is not just a museum, but a little journey into the history of chocolate. Here you can learn how chocolate is made, the story behind the Valor brand, and of course, taste their products.
Some highlights include a guided tour through production and history, tastings of real Spanish chocolate, and often free admission at selected times.
Villajoyosa, where the museum is located, is also worth a visit in itself. The town is known for its colorful houses and cozy atmosphere.
Food experiences from cozy to luxurious
Alicante is a paradise for food lovers. In just three days, we managed to try everything from small local restaurants to more exclusive places.
What surprised us the most was the quality of the food, even at simple places. The price level is also very good, and you get a lot for your money. In addition, there is a great variety, from seafood to meat and classic tapas dishes.
One evening, we treated ourselves to a proper steak dinner at a more exclusive restaurant, and it was definitely worth it. At the same time, some of the best experiences were at the small places you almost walk past without noticing.
A good tip is to venture a bit away from the most touristy streets. There you often find the best food experiences.
Alicante day by day
With three nights, you get a perfect balance between relaxation and experiences.
Day 1 - is often used for arrival and check-in.
Day 2 - is perfect for a road trip in the mountains and surrounding areas.
Day 3 - can be used for the chocolate museum and a more relaxed day in the city.
This gives you a varied trip without feeling stressful.
Why Alicante is perfect for short trips
What makes Alicante an ideal destination for short trips is the combination of accessibility, variety, and price level.
You get sun and warmth, beach and city life, nature and mountains, as well as fantastic food experiences. All within a short distance.
In addition, it is easy to plan, and you avoid complicated logistics. This makes Alicante perfect for a trip of just a few days.
Summary
Alicante truly delivered in every aspect. From a simple flight with Ryanair from Torp, to a road trip in the mountains, chocolate experiences, and great restaurants, this is a trip we highly recommend.
If you are considering a short trip to Spain, Alicante is a safe and exciting choice.

Crispy Tortilla Wraps with Ground Chicken and Panko
I saw the idea on Instagram and had to try it myself. Tortilla wraps, spiced ground chicken, and panko turn into crispy triangles with juicy meat and a simple, spicy crème fraîche dip.

Hamburger with Homemade Herb Butter and Hot Sauce
This hamburger is easy to make but packed with flavor from homemade herb butter and hot sauce. The burger is made from regular ground beef and served with lettuce, tomato, and raw onion. The herb butter melts over the meat, while the hot sauce is served on the side as a dip or directly on the burger.

Make Your Own Hot Sauce with Ingredients from the Grocery Store
It's easier than many think to make your own hot sauce. With just a few ingredients from the grocery store, you can create a fresh, tangy, and moderately spicy chili sauce that works well with everything from tacos and pizza to eggs, burgers, and grilled foods.
