The Riga Trip is Taking Shape | On the Couch, Week 26
Published: 15.07.2026
The Riga trip is booked, and this week's On the Couch is mostly about expectations. We have 3 nights and 2 full days to see if the city can surprise us.

Riga is now booked, and it will be the next proper trip with Hege.
We have 3 nights and 2 full days. It’s not a very long time, but it’s enough to get a first impression of the city. I still don’t quite know what to expect, and that actually makes the trip more interesting.
Alicante still leads as our travel destination. That doesn’t mean Riga has to be like Alicante, but the city must have its own charm. I hope for good food, a nice city to walk in, a bit of local atmosphere, and a price level that makes the trip feel like a budget city getaway.
What I’m most unsure about is whether 2 full days will be enough. Will we only see the old town? Will we find good places to eat? Is it easy to film there? These are the things that determine whether the trip will result in a good video, not just whether the city is beautiful.
I also want to touch on the sourdough bread that didn’t turn out as planned. It’s frustrating when things don’t go right, but at the same time, it’s perhaps what makes food content more honest. Not everything works on the first try.
The cocktails will also get some attention. Snorre has been tasting them over the past few weeks, and he doesn’t have cocktail experience. This makes his reactions more genuine and relatable. I like that, because it’s not just cocktail talk for people who already know cocktails.
The main focus moving forward will be Riga. Not as a hyped travel video, but as a calm anticipation before the trip. Now it’s about figuring out what we should look for, what we should eat, and what we absolutely must experience.
If you’ve been to Riga, I’d love to hear your tips.

In this episode of On the Couch, I discuss why YouTube memberships are gone, why I'm testing Patreon, and what’s next for the channel this summer. There will also be some talk about cocktail videos, food videos, potato salad, grilling plans, sourdough, and the upcoming trip to Riga.

Pan-Seared Salmon Fillets with Cucumber Salad
Pan-seared salmon fillets with cucumber salad is a simple dinner that doesn't require many ingredients. The key is to control the temperature in the pan and allow the salmon to form a crust before attempting to flip it.
